Flight connections

The closest airport is Napoli Capodichino that supports more than 5,000,000 passengers/year. At the present, 18 airlines have flights to/from Capodichino airport. Beyond the biggest Italian cities as Rome and Milan (Alitalia, Air One, Meridiana), all the main European cities are directly connected, as London (British Airways, EasyJet), Paris (Air France, EasyJet), Frankfurt (Air Berlin, Lufthansa), Munich (Lufthansa), Madrid (Iberia), Brussels (Brussels Airlines), Athens (Alitalia, Olympic). Starting from June 2011, there will be also a direct flight to/from New York. Coming from outside Europe, several stop over choices are available. The airport if about 5 km far from the city of Napoli:
  • Taxi fare Napoli Capodichino-Centre of the city: about 20-25 Euros;
  • Bus Fare Napoli Capodichino-Centre of the city (Garibaldi or Municipio Square): 3 Euros.

Train connections

Napoli Train Station is located in the Piazza Garibaldi, just east of the city centre. It's really two stations in one: the upper section for the state run trains and the lower lever for the private Circumvesuviana line that will take you to Pompeii, Herculaneum (Ercolano), and Sorrento.
The train station (Napoli Central Station - Garibaldi Square) is 4 km distant from the conference venue and the main hotel location. The connection with the conference venue is served by bus and metro lines.
Time from/to Rome is 1 h 15 min, from/to Florence 2 h 30 min, and from/to Milan 4 h 15 min.

Bus and Subway

Local buses are a great way to get around the city. All buses stop at the Piazza Garibaldi at some point along their route. Get ANM bus information at the west end of the piazza. Bus tickets can be bought at a "tabacchi" or tobacco shop or at some newsstands.
There are two underground lines operating in central Napoli. The main line runs from Gianturco, just east of Stazione Centrale, all the way to Pozzuoli.

Boats and hydrofoils leaving for Capri, Sorrento, Ischia, Procida and Forio from Molo Beverello are found at the waterfront in front of the Castel Nuovo. You can just walk up and buy tickets to the closer islands.
