Int. Workshop on

Ongoing Initiatives on

Large Scale Resilient Computer Systems

October 5th, 2008

In conjunction with the SRDS 2008 Conference, Naples, Italy, Oct. 6th-8th

A growing number of applications - such as: SCADA systems, air traffic control systems, fraud detection in cellular telephony, security for enterprise networks, automatic trading, processing of the output of large scale ad-hoc networks, etc. - require the ability to process massive amounts of streaming data in a dependable (i.e. accurate and timely) fashion, while surviving faults and attacks.

We are interested in projects addressing dependability issues related to the design, analysis, and implementation, of infrastructures, systems, architectures, algorithms, and protocols that enable the development of large scale resilient systems. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Real-time processing of heterogeneous data sources;
  • Dependability and resilience of critical infrastructures;
  • Architectures and middleware for Complex Event Processing;
  • AApplications (fraud detection, anti-money laundering, air traffic control systems, etc. )

Contribution submission details:

The WS will consist of technical presentations of about 30 mins. These would be typically informal talks providing an overview of the project and how it is doing (e.g., Consortium composition, objectives, preliminary achievements, directions of future work).

Presentations will not be related to a paper, but presenters are invited to submit an abstract or a draft presentation of their potential contribution (2/3 pages or 2/3 slides) for selection purposes to the workshop chair no later than September 10, 2008, as a PDF or PS file. All submissions will be reviewed by the Program Committee.

It is required that at least one author of an accepted contribution will attend the workshop in order to present the work. A compilation of contributions will be distributed as preprint at the workshop. The final compilation of contributions will be made available as PDF after the event.
